Last weekend, Elation’s own Christian Piuma headed to the Maine Osteopathic Association’s 2014 convention in Rockport, Maine. We were invited to attend MOA 2014 by Elation user and MOA President, Jack Forbush, DO. After years of pain and failed expectations with numerous EMRs, Dr. Forbush fell in love with Elation. At MOA, he raved about Elation’s “intuitive interface and robust features [that] set a new standard for EMRs.” We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to support Dr. Forbush and engage with the DO community. (We won’t lie: the convention’s gorgeous waterfront location was also a serious selling point!)

Our 2,800-mile trip from Elation World HQ to MOA was well worth it. We met and engaged with many dedicated doctors about their EMR goals and how Elation can help power their practices; we had the opportunity to demo our EMR with attendees who had never seen Elation (and who universally praised its ease of use); and we had the great privilege of listening to a talk by the University of New England Dean of Osteopathic Medicine, Douglas L. Wood, D.O., Ph.D., FACOI about the university’s contributions to Maine’s healthcare landscape.

In addition to graduating the largest number of physicians in the state, UNE plays a huge role in providing care to Maine’s most rural and underserved areas. Thirty-six percent of all UNE medical school graduates practicing in Maine do so in rural areas, while 27 percent of physician graduates in Maine practice in medically underserved areas. We were impressed by UNE’s tremendous impact on healthcare delivery and honored to be invited to present Elation as a tool that can help physicians provide excellent care no matter where they practice.

As an added bonus, Christian got some gratis care for an ankle injury from Dr. Forbush, who worked his magic right in the exhibit hall. He also got the full New England culinary experience, enjoying a waterfront dinner of Maine lobster and oysters. (Are you jealous yet?)

We relish every opportunity to connect with physicians who are searching for the best tools to help them provide the best possible care. The MOA convention was just such an opportunity, and we returned from Maine inspired and excited to forge new partnerships and continue to grow our physician community.
